He is risen!
We had a great past few months at Table Covenant Church, culminating with a great resurrection Sunday service last week. As we enter into the Spring/Summer semester at our little church plant, here are a few things we are excited about:
We took our first steps into more intentional community engagement a few weeks ago when we set up a table at the University Mall, where the theater we worship in is located. The table invited people walking by to engage with the question of how to provide aid to refugees.
We had a number of great conversations, people were given tangible ways of helping and we were able to get the word out about our church meeting in the theater.
We look forward to more opportunities to engage our community this spring and summer.
We celebrated the wedding of two of our launch team members last weekend, are looking forward to another wedding in July, welcomed the birth of a baby and will be celebrating a baptism this coming Sunday! Lots of life happening all around us!
Summer can be a challenging time for church plants with many people being away for vacations and trips, but we are excited about it for a few reasons:
- we get to try some creative and exciting outreach projects
- we will be experimenting with our service format in various ways
- we will be running our next round of Intentional Discipleship and a new "Family on Mission" training initiative
- we get to make plans for a full-on fall "open house" season starting in September
We also get to give our volunteers a bit of a break with a less labor-intensive sunday service set up routine. We are so grateful for all the people who come early and serve so faithfully week after week. Launching a church from scratch takes a lot of work and could not happen without the sacrifice and hard work of our volunteers.
As always, we are so grateful for all of you, our friends and supporters. We do not take your prayers and generosity for granted and in fact, ask for continued prayer as we enter this new season. We are off to a great start but we need sustained momentum and a few more families to join our Launch Team to spread out the workload and bring a bit more financial stability.
May God bless all of you during this Eastertide, continually living into the Resurrection Life Jesus calls us into.
